Monti’s KTAR 620 Sportsline Memories on Facebook

April 26, 2009 at 5:10 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

I bought a negative scanner and am enjoying getting familiar with it. These are photos scanned from negatives taken by our late friend and fellow Tempe Diablo, Robert Sorgatz. Robert was often on hand to document the KTAR 620 Sportsline radio shows conducted by our friend Brad Cesmat in the 1990s. This is the first batch of negatives. There will be many more to come.

Paradise Valley Independent / Local Business

Eddie Matney and Michael Monti

Eddie Matney and Michael Monti

Here  (see end of post) is an opinion piece that I signed, together with Chef Eddie Matney, in hopes of reminding the public of the benefits of doing business locally. We are not looking for martyrs; I don’t expect people to pay extra for their toilet paper just to score points against Wal-Mart. Rather, I ask that one time in five–just 20% of the time–go to Bashas or AJ’s instead of a national chain, Riazzi’s instead of Olive Garden, Monti’s instead of the Keg…and so on.

Anyway, please have a read…Matney/Monti Column

City of Tempe Provides Notification of Property Tax Rate

TEMPE, Ariz. – The “Truth in Taxation” notification appearing below is required by state law and addresses only the primary rate portion, which is used for general city services.

The amount of city property tax you pay is based on two factors: 1) the property tax rate set by the city, and 2) your property valuation, as assessed by the county government. Also, you will note on your property tax statement that the property tax paid to the city is approximately 14 percent of your total property tax bill, with the majority of your property taxes going to school districts and Maricopa County.

If you have questions or comments regarding Tempe’s property taxes, please contact the City of Tempe Financial Services Department at 480-350-8350.

Notification:
In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, the City of Tempe is notifying its property taxpayers of the City of Tempe’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. The City of Tempe is proposing an increase in primary property taxes of $229,805 or 2 percent.

The proposed tax increase will cause the City of Tempe’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from $48.01 to $48.97.

The proposed increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter-approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held Thursday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 31 E. Fifth St., in Tempe.
