Late Rail Hours – Use Them or Lose Them – Nightrail

July 26, 2009 at 3:37 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

NightRail is part of the effort to demonstrate that we really don’t have to roll up the sidewalks at 9 pm here in metro Phoenix. Valley Metro has extended the hours of the light rail line on a provisional basis. Here is your chance to convince the authorities to keep the longer hours. Join us at Monti’s at 9 pm on July 31st and prepare to ride the rails!

From Tempe Town News, some good news about a neighborhood that sports some august Tempe families, near Tempe High School:

Date Palm Manor is the first neighborhood in Arizona to be designated as a historic district since the passing of Prop 207, the Private Property Rights Protection Act, in 2006. The City Council gave its formal approval of the historic designation at a May 28 meeting; the designation became effective in late June.

When Will This Sidewalk be Returned to the Public?

When Will This Sidewalk be Returned to the Public?

Originally uploaded by Michael Monti

Today on AZCentral there was an article about Opus West filing for
reorganization. It sharpens my concern about the endless wait we are
enduring for the completion of Tempe Gateway and the removal of the
chain-link fence and hoarding.
Right now the construction fencing is choking off access to Tempe Beach
Park and, incidentally, Monti’s. The building was originally slated to
be done in April. The immense public investment in the Valley Metro
light rail station at 3rd street is being partially squandered so long
as the sidewalk adjacent to Tempe Gateway remains closed. Let’s gitter
done, Opus/US Air.
