We are in a recession, right? That means people are strapped for cash and looking for good deals, right? I am perplexed. I have been posting this car on Craigslist now for the last month or so and I have received little feedback. I’m beginning to think that the news reporters have more of a need for good deals on Craigslist than the general public does… maybe I’ll send this posting to Kent Dana or Lin Sue Cooney.

This really is a pretty good deal – a solid car priced $500 under KBB value (yes some minor repairs are necessary, but if you can’t accept that fact when you are looking for cars in the under $2k price range than I don’t know what to tell you… keep searching for Atlantis) with plenty of life left in her.

Here are some specs:
-110k miles (most from freeway commutes)
-Automatic Transmission
- Great A/C
- Meanest 4 cylinder engine in the Southwest (no contest)

Where’s the beef? Here’s the beef:
- The rear right brake sticks upon coming to a complete stop. It easily ‘unsticks’ at the pressing of the accelerator. Truly a simple, inexpensive fix. Old lady Geraldine next door could probably fix it in one Golden Girls commercial break.
- There is minor body damage (no structural damage) on the front end thanks to my careless roommate that backed into it when going to work one morning (and that’s why you go to bed at a reasonable time, children. So you don’t wake up one morning in a zombie-like state, head to work looking like a slouch, and back into your loyal roommate’s car, thus jeopardizing his chances of making a quick and honest sell on Craigslist when he could really use the extra cash).

Several downtown Tempe streets closed for July 4 festivities

Tempe, Ariz – Due to the event, the following street closures will occur.

• Mill Avenue between Curry Road/Washington Street and Rio Salado Parkway will be closed in both directions from 6 a.m. July 4 until 2 a.m. July 5.
• Mill Avenue between Rio Salado Parkway and 5th Street will close in both directions from approximately noon July 4 until 2 a.m. July 5.
• Mill Avenue between 5th Street and University Drive will close in both directions from approximately 4 p.m. July 4 until 2 am July 5.
• Rio Salado Parkway between Hardy Drive and the access to Hayden Ferry Parking garage located just east of Mill Avenue will be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. July 4 until 2 a.m. July 5. Access will be provided to the Tempe Center for the Arts via Priest Drive to Rio Salado Parkway. Access to the SunCor/Hayden’s Ferry developments will be provided via Scottsdale Road to Rio Salado Parkway.
• 5th Street between Ash Avenue and Forest Avenue will be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. July 4. Local Access will be maintained from Ash Avenue and Forest Avenue.
• Eastbound Rio Salado Parkway between Priest Drive and Hardy Drive will be closed from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4.
• Northbound Rural Road between University Drive and Rio Salado Parkway will be closed from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4
• Southbound Scottsdale Road between Curry Road and 6th Street will be closed from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4.
• Veterans Way/5th Street will be closed in both directions between College Avenue and University Drive from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4.
• 5th Street will be closed in both directions between Forest Avenue and College Avenue from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4.
• The Loop 202 off-ramps at Scottsdale Road will be closed from 8:30 until 11 p.m. July 4

Extended bus and light rail service: Residents are encouraged to park at one of the following light rail park-and-ride locations and ride the train for $1.75 per trip, per person to the festivities. Or, purchase an all-day pass for $3.50 at the start of your trip to avoid having to use busy fare vending machines in the downtown area at the end of the event. (Reduced all day passes are available for $1.75 for youth, people age 65 and older and people with disabilities.) Light rail will run every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. July 4 and 2 a.m. July 5.

• McClintock and Apache
• Price and Apache

Or catch the bus or Orbit for FREE at your nearest stop. Many downtown Tempe bus routes will drop off and pick up at the Tempe Transportation Center on the northeast corner of Fifth Street and Forest Avenue. Due to street restrictions, several downtown Tempe routes will be detoured and will not serve their normal stops. Before 3 p.m., all Tempe bus routes will run according to Sunday schedules. After 3 p.m., the following bus routes will run every 15 minutes northbound to downtown Tempe until 8 p.m. July 4 with return service until 2 a.m. July 5.

• 62 – Hardy
• 66 – Mill
• 72 – Rural
• 92 – 48th Street/Guadalupe

For residents or visitors without nearby access to Valley Metro or Orbit bus service, the following park-and-ride locations will be available:

• Tempe Marketplace – Orbit Earth to downtown; Route 81 (McClintock) to Apache and McClintock LRT Station
• Tempe Sports Complex – Route 62 (Hardy) to downtown
• Tempe Library Complex – Orbit Jupiter to downtown
• Arizona Mills Mall – Route 56 (Priest) to Priest and Washington LRT Station; Route 92 (Guadalupe/48th Street) to downtown

The following bus detours will occur all day July 4:

62 Northbound – Regular route to University; east on University to College; north on College to 5th St.; west on 5th St. to Tempe Transportation Center.

62 Southbound – Depart Tempe Transportation Center; east on 5th St. to College; south on College to University; west on University to Hardy Dr.; south on Hardy Dr. to resume regular route.

Tempe to offer extended bus and light rail service for July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival
TEMPE, Ariz.- The city of Tempe Transit program, Tempe in Motion, will make it easy for residents to get to the July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival with extended bus and light rail service. Residents are encouraged to park at one of the following light rail park-and-ride locations and ride the train for $1.75 per trip, per person to the festivities. Or, purchase an all-day pass for $3.50 at the start of your trip to avoid having to use busy fare vending machines in the downtown area at the end of the event. (Reduced all day passes are available for $1.75 for youth, people age 65 and older and people with disabilities.) Light rail will run every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. July 4 and 2 a.m. July 5.
